What kind of person do I want to be-

I didn’t want to wash my face before bed the other day. I didn’t care if I still had mascara on. I was tired.

Then  a question popped into my head. “Do I want to be the kind of person that takes care of herself properly or the kind of person that makes excuses?”

Well that put things into perspective. I washed my face and put on moisturizer before going into bed.

I thought of that question often since then.

“Do I want to be the kind of person that exercises or the kind of person that makes excuses?”

“Do I want to be the kind of person that takes time for spirituality or the kind of person that makes excuses?”

The question allows me to see further in the future. It allows me to see what kind of person I want to be.

Almost all change first begins by how you see yourself and your beliefs about your capabilities. Until you see yourself as the kind of person who exercises or goes to bed on time or dresses nicely it is much harder to cement change.

Sure some of the time I answer, “The kind of person who makes excuses. So there.” Change is never on a perfect upwards trajectory.

Yet by asking the question I am choosing the higher road more often.

Maybe this question will help you as well.
