15 Minutes of Sleep

By

We’ve all heard how we can do anything for 15 minutes, and using just 15 minutes can boost your productivity, health and fun time.

Well, I discovered another use for 15 minutes. I’ve been trying on and off for at least a year to wake up early every day. I have been attempting to get on a good sleep schedule. But, for some reason I thought I “had” to be up by 6am. After all, most of the productivity experts were getting up even earlier like 4 or 5am. I felt like a slacker needing a full 7-8 hours of sleep.

I would be able to get up about 4 days at 6am and by the 5th I was so exhausted there was no way I was getting out of bed.

A couple weeks ago I thought, “Why don’t I try to wake up at 6:15 instead? It seems a lot later even though it’s only 15 minutes.”

So, that’s what I did. And it’s been so much easier. I am able to get up at 6:15 regularly now. Maybe 6:15 hits at a better time in my sleep cycle, maybe I really do need that extra 15 minutes of sleep, maybe it’s just a mind game and I think it’s much later and I can get up.

I am finally sticking to a regular schedule.

So if you are struggling at getting up at a certain preconceived time, try waking up 15 minutes later and see how that works for you.
