Could You fit Everything into 8 Suitcases?

They were moving to Hawaii from California and wanted to fit everything into 8 suitcases. They purged and put stuff into storage.
When they moved back, she was surprised by how much she kept after feeling much lighter with less stuff in Hawaii. Back to decluttering.
She writes, "Now, as I sort through the boxes of household items that have come back into my life, I’m asking myself even tougher questions. Do I absolutely need it? Do I love it? If not, out it goes.
Before I kept items by default, but today, if they’re going to take up space in my cupboard – and thus my life – they must have a purpose beyond emerging every three years for a special event."

We have done that several times.
We moved from the USA to Kenya & back. Then from the USA to the UK & back. Then repeat version one. With each move we added a kid.
2 bags (boxes ) each. Well, the first time (no kids), we had a few extras.
It’s a good exercise!
