Fall planning

By Beth

As I head into the rush of fall and school starting, I am finding myself drawn to planning. I want to remember my goals, purpose and values. I want to narrow things down to what is most important this season, since I know I can’t get it all done.

Sometimes in the busyness of life the big picture gets put under the myriad of details – school supplies, hair cuts, oil changes, grocery shopping. I just want to step back and remember I can create my life. I don’t have to let life, other people and my own ridiculous expectations dictate what my life looks like. I can deliberately choose.

Today as I was cleaning the kitchen a cool breeze breathed through my hair calling me outside. I put down the rag and invited the kids down for a walk. My daughter suggested a bike ride. That sounded even better. We rode our bikes as the sun gently shined and the breeze whispered freedom.

Next week the kids start school, so I have marked down a few hours of planning time to bring me back to what is important.
