Managing Overwhelm
ByBert Webb writes about how productivity systems go by the way side the minute we start to become overwhelmed. So to keep our productivity up, we need to manage overwhelm. He has some ideas here:

Hey, SP. Miss ya on the SIT list. Glad you still have your blog. I wanted your thoughts, or any links to something Bert Webb mentioned in the article you linked us to in this post. The statement: “…deal with the stress of being overwhelmed.” So, what I want to know is how, in reality & actuality, do you do that?? Any comments, or links to articles about that????
Hi Neasie,
I was just thinking of you guys yesterday. Being more on the sensitive side I can get easily overwhelmed so it is a constant upkeep keeping the stress at bay. I do a daily quiet time or I feel off balance. I exercise a few times a week in the morning. And a few times in the afternoon with the kids – biking, swimming, tennis, hiking. That’s a great stress reliever. When I am feeling to stressed and rushed, I check my projects to see which can be done at a later time. Sometimes none can and that’s when I enlist help from my family or a friend. There are always going to be busy times in our lives, so I try to breathe through them. Watch my thoughts like, “I’ll never get this all done.” I concentrate on whatever task I’m on. Otherwise it feels like too much. I also try to add some fun to things like music, doing it with a friend, challenging my kids, giving myself a reward like 15 minutes of reading time. I also try to add at least 20% of the time I think it will take. If I think it will take till July 19, I might say I can have it done by July 21. Mainly because I am bad at estimating time and it usually takes longer than I think it will. I want to get back with you all soon.
