Spending Fast – Day 1
ByHow was your first day on your spending fast?
I had to co-pay the doctor for my son’s appointment today, and got some produce and tuna at the grocery store. I saw a book, but I put it back down. And a magazine at checkout. I left it there.
Today was library day so I was able to read the magazine while my daughter was looking for books.

Don’t you just love the library? I haven’t bought a book or a magazine in years, and I read voraciously. I look at it thusly: my taxes pay to maintain the facility and collection, so if I buy a book that’s already on the shelf, I’ve paid for it twice. As an added bonus, I don’t have to clutter up my house with bookshelves full of volumes I’ll never read again.
Yes, I love the library. I usually only buy books I can’t get at the library – and we have an interlibrary system so we can get a lot of books.
