Excellent job with grocery shopping and planning Joan and Niki!

That's true Michelle. The less you are in the stores, the less you buy. So I buy groceries once or twice a month with my coupons and then every few days for produce, dairy and bread which are together at the front of the store. I am blessed to have a grocery store just down the road and across from the high school so I am that way anyway.

I notice that when I buy less produce at a time, less has to get thrown out.

How much is gas in Germany now Michelle? I've been walking more for errands to. Today I will be walking to the post office.

I also went grocery shopping but actually spent more than usual. I stocked up on some staples including some canned goods. My thought is that I'll be less apt to spend money if I don't have to go to the store so often. I did get one container of different, more expensive brand of yoghurt (on sale) as a treat, and a different brand of powerbar to try. It was awful, so I won't be buying those anymore!

However, yesterday (Sunday), I offered to prepare a dinner for a family of 8 from church. The mother is in our home group. She just had a new baby and we're providing some meals for the first week or two. So I'll need to go to the store for that and watch out for "extras". I think it will be something simple like pasta and a salad.

Ddad's birthday is this week, so I'm looking for online bargains. But I already told him his gift might be late. I already ordered Mother's Day flowers and found what I think is a pretty good deal. All the online florists have specials this week. And I got 20x frequent flyer miles for the purchase.

This week, I want to try to walk to church, the train station, and to do errands as often as possible to save gas. It's a matter of planning and preparing so that I have the extra time, but it's doable. I'll let y'all know how it goes!

I sat down and did meal menu's for the week trying to use up what I already have in my freezer and pantry, and did a minimal grocery shopping ($30) and stuck to my list. If it wasn't on the list, I didn't buy it. I'm an impulse buyer by nature (even at the grocery store!), so this was quite a feat for me!
