Summer Planning

By

Along with landscaping, gardening and visiting with family I did some summer planning. I hate that feeling at the end of the summer where I had so many ideas of what I wanted to do this summer, but not many happened. Usually it’s because I just had some ideas in my head, but no plans.

First I filled out my Summer Planning Worksheet (I included it in this week’s newsletter). Then I took out my calendar and scheduled as many as I could. I also have lines to the left of my calendar for notes. I wrote down some of the fun things I wanted to do like lie in the hammock, play frisbee with the kids and go on a picnic. That way I can slip some of these into my weeks.

I like to include the family in my planning so I have them make a list of what they wanted to do this summer. For instance my daughter wants to make over her room and build a fort under our huge pine tree in the backyard with her brother.

This is going to be a fun summer. I’m planning on it.

Hi! I feel the same way about the summer slipping away. Last summer my mother’s dementia was advancing and I wanted to spend as much time with her doing the things she could enjoy and am so glad I did. In the winter we had to move her to a nursing home (hardest thing we ever had to do!) so I treasure last summer’s memories with her. We made a list of things she wanted to do and people she wanted to see. So, this summer I began my list, it is very simple but so far it is going well and I don’t have that feeling of summer drifting away. Top on my list was taking the time to contact or see people I either hadn’t seen in awhile or talked to. I heard from 3 people in one week, without me contacting them, it was a big blessing and last week there were 2 more. Most of the rest of my plans are grandchild related and to spend quality time with my sweet husband, our 36th anniversary is in July. Have a wonderful, peaceful, yet simple summer!

    LuAnn,

What a sweet idea to make a list with your mother last year. And now you can mother yourself that same way. It sounds like an excellent plan to get in contact with people.
