Water Bottles
Posted by: | CommentsEvery time I opened the tupperware cabinet, it seemed water bottles would fly out at me.

Before
I was at Goodwill this week and found a $2 basket and I had an idea.
First, I got rid of the extra water bottles. How many did we even use? How many did we really need at any given time?

These I let go of
Then I put the remainder in the long basket facing the back. Now I could pull out the basket if I needed water bottles and they wouldn’t be tipping over all the time.

Whole Grain Storage
Posted by: | CommentsI took a nutrition class on whole grains and filled my cabinet with millet, quinoa, couscous, steel-cut oats. And now my cabinet had a bunch of bags of grains.

The same Goodwill that I found the water bottle basket, I found a big, clear plastic tub. Perfect size for all my grains. Now instead of sorting through all the grains in the cabinet I pull down the tub and find the grain I want right away.

One Less
Posted by: | CommentsThe smoothie maker died after years of at least three smoothies a week and the hand blender’s plastic parts melted. In the same week.
We decided we could replace both with a sturdy blender that can crush ice. This time we got one with metal parts instead of plastic and a glass instead of plastic jar.
In most of our kitchens I think we have too many things that only do one action.
We don’t have the space for most things like that.
A few that we do use like the yogurt maker, bread machine and waffle maker go on a shelf in the basement when not in use.
And today I am happy to have one less thing in my kitchen.
