I think this is a case of desensitization, by constant practice of taking risk we immune ourselves from hesitation and doubts. We build confidence by doing a certain thing and accomplishing it beyond our expectation. I find this true when dealing with other people, selling something which is not really necessary for them. You might be rejected, most of the time, but the only way to know your capabilities is to try. The best way to deal with rejection is anticipate then be prepared.

Starting small with risk is the best way to go — build up your confidence and self-assurance before being ready to say “here I go”. And saying “no” — that one is a big risk for a lot of people.
