How do you declutter bad memories?

And, what does decluttering bad memories involve? Selecting on a few bad memories to remember and ditching all the rest of them?

  2. Beth says:

Hi Jonathan, A lot of it is getting rid of the stuff that brings up bad memories. You can also reframe bad memories to see what was good about them and what lessons were learned. People can keep whatever memories they wish too keep, but if they spend too much time in dark places they may lose their way or at least their energy.

    Beth,

Thanks for responding. I don’t think I have things that bring up bad memories. Instead, these bad memories come up whenever I hear someone talking something similar, see/read something that ignite that memory, or am bored with or not interested in what I’m doing (i.e. cutting grass).

Sometimes it’s a matter of contemplating as to whether or not I should pass the car in front of me that brings back my memory of crashing my car last winter.

True, I could think about the positive things that have come out of these so called bad experiences. I’ll try that. It’s sure a waste of time thinking and reliving bad memories.
