Usually I do my financial weekend closer to the New Year, but it’s still January so I’m ok.  In order to improve your financial well being and to simplify your life, you need to be honest about where you are right now. That’s what my financial weekend does for me.

This weekend:

Is all your financial info up to date? If not take some time the next couple weekends to update it.

I switched over to Mint (on the web) for financial management this year. I am curious how that will work at tax time, which I’m just beginning to gear up for. I HAVE to be organized around finances, because I have not only our household’s but also my very elderly Mom’s and right after that will want to be involved in several nonprofit organizations’ tax filings (ALL nonprofits now have to file a Form 990 with the IRS — no matter how tiny the organization).

Beth, at the beginning of the year you set up your household folders (including tax and financial). Could you give me a run-down or a list of those so I can do the same. I find myself having repetition of files or no file for certain things I should have a file for. HELP> 🙂

    Thank you!
