Getting Stuff Done

06.22.2012

I don’t want to live simply so I can get more done. We seem to equate getting more done with success.

It makes us look good. "Yes, I did all that and it was soooo easy." As the rest of us who didn’t finish the list glare. Umm, not quite the accolades hoped for?

Well getting things done makes us feel enough. We think. Though most of us never get to feeling we’ve done enough, no matter how much we do.

To be more perfect and competent. Even as we accomplish though, we feel like frauds. We still feel behind and know there is more to do.

So if getting stuff done, doesn’t give us the feelings we want it to, what does it do?

It gets stuff done. Everything else is a story about it. You aren’t more or less worthy by what you get done.

You are enough.

I have to remind myself that it is not the things that are not done but the things that are that keep our home working. We, as a society, tend to look at things from the negative side, instead of the positive, and focus on what still needs to be done and not what we have accomplished. I am trying to think postively before I go to sleep each night and be thankful for what I did do that day. We need all the reinforcement we can get and sometimes, it must come from within.
