That was written over 50 years ago and it’s even more true now. Because of the noise and non-stop go, go, go our souls feel anxious. So we stuff that anxiety into more things. Distracting with more work, more volunteering, more entertainment, more social engagements.

Which only makes us feel more rattled. It’s like a double shot espresso to calm your nerves.

What does your soul and spirit need? Mine needs solitude, silence, nature, prayer and journaling. Some may need art or soothing music or inspirational texts.

Not giving your soul what it needs is as jarring as not caring for your body. Both lead to agitation and exhaustion.

If you don’t know what your soul craves, try asking every day this week. Get quiet by breathing 10 times. Then ask or write, "Soul, what do we need today?"
