Every once in awhile I play a game where I ask myself, “What would tomorrow me like me to do?” Or evening me. Or birthday me.
Today I woke up and decided to ask myself, “What would 2021 me like?” So I began with making my bed. Then doing some yoga. 2021 me would appreciate me matching the socks instead of throwing them in the unmatched sock drawer.
This mindset shift helps with procrastination. You are reminded that the future you is the same you. If you don’t want to do it now, you probably won’t want to do it tomorrow.
Would 2021 you like to wake up to hard, crusty dishes? Or thank you notes you meant to send last week? Or a stack of mail from the last two weeks?
We tend to go about our day thinking, how can I make this easier right now, which often means leaving piles, not putting things away and shoving things places. A better question to think about is, “How can I make this easier for me later?”
When you go about today, notice when you tell yourself, “I’ll do this later.”
I have been following you for a number of years. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and techniques to make our lives better. Happy New Year to you. How can I get your 2021 Calendar?
