The other day I was writing in my journal about ways I can comfort myself when I am down. After I looked over the list I was shocked that they all cost little or no money:

  • journaling
  • praying
  • reframing what happened more positively
  • listening to music
  • dancing
  • petting the cat
  • getting lost in a favorite movie or book
  • taking a walk
  • asking myself what I need

Buying a pick-me-up wasn’t even on the list! I wonder how many times I have tried to cheer myself up with the wrong thing.
