When I was growing up, my friend next door’s family used to crank up the music as everyone washed dishes and cleaned up the kitchen together. Lots of laughing and dancing. We can bring that playfulness into picking up each evening. Everyone in the house is to join in. Make it fun by doing races, setting a timer or picking up with laundry baskets. Definitely put on some tunes.
If you do this consistently, the family all takes responsibility for their home. Kids like to feel useful, so don’t do everything for them. Plus, no one is tripping over a hot wheels track in the middle of the night.
