The Real Life

"It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.” -Laura Ingalls Wilder

I read the Little House books over and over as a kid. When my children were little we read the whole series. I loved how they seemed at the brink of survival so many times but always found ways to make do and even make the best of things. They didn’t have much materially, yet they had real moments of connection, family and friends.

I think I have been looking for the simple life ever since I first read the books.

I forgot all about those books until I just read this. As a child I too read them over and over. It used to always amaze me how little they had but how happy they were. It was back then that I had a lesson in learning that life isn’t all about materialistic things…too bad our society today thinks it is & everyone always wants bigger and better.

My favorite was Little House in the Big Woods…I loved the Christmas part of that book! I have the whole series, maybe I’ll pull them out and read them again!
