I came up with an idea for a client of mine recently, on dealing with boxes. Thought you might have fun with it as well. She had to unpack lots of boxes from her move and has been procrastinating on them for months.
For a visual aid, she is cutting out paper boxes – one for each real box to go through. Then she can tape them to a wall or closet door in the shape of a pyramid. Every time she completes a box, she gets to take off a box and see the stack get smaller and smaller.
We also talked about breaking things down. Struggling with one box at a time, we broke it down even further. Just a little at a time, maybe just a handful in one sitting. What can you use this strategy for?

We are in a temporary leased home for 2 years. I only unpacked what I needed to “camp out” here bec the house is smaller; the remaining stuff from the big house was stored in the garage & an inside store room, organized into category columns by room just in case I needed something. A year ago, I lined up a row of 11 book boxes in front of my office shelves thinking it will just take a minute to do a box each day… That tiny task became a mental Mt Everest! I knew it wouldn’t take long, the task weighed on my mind every day, and it soon became impossible. My Mt.Everest project! My husband offered me a glass of wine, and said let me “help you” unpack those boxes, you will have so much more room to walk… WOW what a MIRACLE & I felt uplifted after my/our accomplishment & it only took a few mins to unpack those 11 so we also did 6 in the art loft I unpacked 8 more in another area. The rooms feel so OPEN now and I feel so GOOD! 😀
